This three (3) step package program is for Teenagers (Under 18) looking to complete the State of VA DMV requirements in order to receive their drivers license.

This program has three (3) required steps:

Step 1: You must complete the 30 Hour Drivers ed course

  • Option A: Classroom Drivers Education (In person)
    • 30 hours as required by the State of VA DMV
    • Start any day (rolling enrollment)
    • Flexible evening & weekend schedule
    • Maximum hours allowed, per the VA DMV
      • On school days: 2 hours per day
      • On non-school days (weekends, holidays, school breaks): 4 hours per day
    • Classes held in Herndon & Tysons Corner locations only
  • Option B: Online Drivers Education (Online/Remote)
    • 30 hours as required by the State of VA DMV
    • Start any day; Available online 24/7
    • Do as little or many hours as you like per day
    • Once you complete the course and are prompted for the final exam, call our office to schedule a time to come in and take the final test.
    • Students CANNOT take the final exam, unless they have first attended the 90-minute Parent/Teen course!! Proof of completion is required, in order to generate a "Drivers Education certificate", which your driving instructor MUST have before starting "Part 3: Behind the Wheel".
    • Classes held in Herndon & Tysons Corner locations only only

Step 2: You must complete the 90-Minute Parent/Teen Class

Beginning with the academic year 2010-2011, students under age 18 in Planning District 8 (counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park) along with a parent or guardian, must participate in an additional 90-minute driver education component as a part of the in-classroom portion of the driver education curriculum.

  • One time class
  • Only one parent/guardian is required to attend with teen (not both)
  • Reminder: Students doing Online Drivers Education, CANNOT take their final exam, unless they have first attended the 90-minute Parent/Teen course!! Proof of completion is required, in order to generate a "Drivers Education certificate", which your driving instructor MUST have before starting "Part 3: Behind the Wheel".
  • Classes held in Herndon & Tysons Corner locations only

Step 3: You must complete the 7 appointments of Behind The Wheel (in-car)

As required by the State of VA DMV, you must complete 14 periods of in-car instruction.

  • Reminder: You must complete Part 1 & Part 2, before beginning Part 3 (Behind the Wheel). Instructor will need certificate of completion for Drivers Education.
  • There will be seven (7) appointments
  • Each appointment is 1 hour and 40 minutes long
  • 50 minutes of driving and 50 minutes of observation
    • 7 x 50min periods of driving (350min total)
    • 7 x 50min periods of observation (350min total)
  • On the last (7th) session, our DMV certified instructor will give you the DMV final road test. If you drive well, the instructor will pass you. Thus making the student exempt from taking the final road test at a DMV center.
  • Upon passing, the instructor will issue a temporary driver's license certificate (DTS-B) valid for 6 months/180 days.
    • This document along with the Learner's Permit, will serve as a full-fledged license to drive for the new driver.
    • The temporary driver's license (DTS-B) does not become valid unless a teenager is at least 16yrs and 3 months of age and has held a Learners Permit for 9 months

Within the next few months, the local Juvenile Court will mail a letter with the date and time of the Licensing Ceremony. They typically notify you at least 30 days in advance of the Ceremony, so that you and a parent can both attend. At the Ceremony the student will receive the hard copy of their driver's license (ID card).

  • Must obtain a Learners Permit from the DMV and have held it for 9 months
    • Make a photocopy of Learner's Permit
    • Driving log of 45 hours with parents (30hrs daytime plus 15hrs nighttime)
      • These hours need to be completed before the temporary license is issued
  • Certificate of completion (DEC-1) of drivers education course (classroom or online)
    • Must be signed by Driver's Education Teacher and School Administrator
  • Certificate of completion of 90-minute parent/teen course (classroom or online)
    • Must be signed by Driver's Education Teacher and School Administrator
  • Our DMV certified instructors give in-car instruction using DMV approved vehicles (modern, 4 door, automatic, dual controlled)
  • Clean, air-conditioned, automatic transmission, Dual Control Vehicles
  • Our vehicles go through continuous and rigorous maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Our vehicles have dual equipped brakes, passenger side rear view mirror, blind spot mirrors and are inspected annually by the DMV.
  • Our vehicles hold vehicle inspection reports in compliance with Virginia state requirement to insure you receive maximum safety.
  • DMV Certified Instructors
  • Free door-to-door pick-up from school, home, work, etc. is included in that.
  • Our instructors offer flexible scheduling (mornings, evenings, weekends)
  • Our instructors provide convenient pickup & dropoff (school, home, work)
  • Some of our instructors are active and retired police officers, with numerous years of extensive training and experience in traffic law enforcement, emergency driving methods, collision investigation and traffic court proceedings.
  • All of our instructors have many years of driving instruction experience, given professional training and are educated college graduates. They have also received specialized collegiate level training in Drivers Education.
  • All of our instructors get their fingerprints done every year and are subject to annual national Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) background checks and DMV driving record audits.
