Per VA DMV, all Teenagers (Under 18) MUST complete 30hrs of Drivers Education (Classroom or Online) in order to receive their Driver’s License.

  • The program consists of at least 30 hours of instructions and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue donation awareness as required by law.
  • You must be at least 15 years old to take the online drivers education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver's education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed driver training school. Home-schooled students are exempt from this requirement.
  • In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

  • From the day you register & pay for the course, you have nine (9) months to take the Final Test and complete the course! No refunds!

  • Students CANNOT take the final exam, unless they have first attended the 90-minute Parent/Teen course!! Proof of completion is required, in order to generate a "Drivers Education certificate", which your driving instructor MUST have before starting "Step 3: Behind the Wheel".

On the day of testing, you must bring the following to the test site:

  • Students MUST attend the 90 minute parent teen course to receive the certificate of completion for the Online Drivers Education course. This applies to students that are under the age of 18 in Planning District 8 (counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park)
    • In order to take the Final Test, students MUST first complete the 90-minute parent/teen course. If the student has already completed the 90min course, then proof of completion MUST be provided.
  • Photo identification (DMV issued identification card, school issued identification card, valid passport or military identification)
  • Login Info (Username & Password) for the Online Drivers Education Course
    • Proof of completion of the course
  • A completed "Parent Consent for Online Driver Education Examination" (Form DTS 62), if you are under the age of 18
  • Completed & Signed School Contract (must be signed by Student & Parent/Guardian)
  • The online driver training site will provide a computer for testing

  • On the day of the test YOU CANNOT BRING ANY NOTES OR USE YOUR CELL PHONE TO HELP. NO CHEATING!!
  • Final test is 50 questions, all multiple choice. Per the DMV, passing is at least 80% (40/50)
  • You may take the final test only 3 times.
  • If you fail the test 3 times you will have to restart the course from the beginning and pay the original price again.
